Planning

How should I begin to plan?

As you should expect, everything in the instructional design process begins with planning.  Proper planning is the foundation of creating a quality course. In this video series, Grant Wiggins leads a workshop on Understanding by Design (UbD), a framework for improving student achievement that helps teachers clarify learning goals, devise assessments that reveal student understanding, and craft effective learning activities. As you watch these two videos, consider his method of planning for instruction and compare it with your own.  After you have finished both, please share your reaction(s) to the videos in the discussion box below.
